Writing with Passion

I write with passion about child abuse prevention because a man grabbed me and held a gun to my head when I was 5-years-old.

I write with passion about spouse abuse prevention because I saw my father beat my mother and I heard her screams for help.

I write with passion about suicide prevention because I could not save my good friend and neighbor who took her own life.

I write with passion about the struggles of single parents because I felt the agony of divorce and raised my sons alone.

I write with passion about substance abuse prevention because a family member is a recovering addict who nearly lost his life.

I write with passion about the value of education because I earned my bachelor’s degree as a single parent with three part-time jobs.

I write with passion about the importance of a work ethic because that made it possible for me to reach my goals for a better life.

I write with passion about making a difference and helping others because my friends were always there when I needed them most.

I write with passion about setting goals and daring to dream because sometimes goals and dreams might be all we have left.

I write with passion about believing in ourselves, God and Country because I value my freedom and I have seen miracles.

I write with passion because I have seen that, been there, heard that, felt that, and all of those moments left a mark in the center of my heart.

I live with passion, and I will not allow anyone to put me down because I’m mighty proud of the person I am in spite of where I have been.

I have been to hell and back … but I thank God for my struggles because they have given me more strength and empathy than most people will ever know.
